There are many forms of Ego, I like to put Ego in two categories. Healthy Ego, which I like to call pride or self Love and unhealthy Ego.
Healthy Ego comes from a place of fulfillment. A genuine appreciation and Love of yourself.
Unhealthy Ego comes from a place a lacking. An emptiness where self Love should be.
When there are places within us that are not filled with pride, confidence or self Love, unhealthy ego steps in to fill those spaces. As a way to protect us from hurt feelings, unhealthy Ego is used as a false self Love till we can develop our true confidence, self Love and form a healthy Ego.
Developing healthy Ego is difficult, we must embrace our weakness, admit we are lacking confidence and self Love. We must become vulnerable not only to ourself, but more importantly to another to be able to fill those spaces with a healthy Ego. Being vulnerable is not a weakness, it is a tool for building strength.
For most of us it is just easier to stay in the unhealthy ego and blame others for our bad feelings, instead of accepting our limitations and taking responsibility for our own feelings.
No one can make your feel anything that you don’t want to feel. The next time someone angers you and makes you feel unloved, take the power away from them. Accept responsibility for your emotions and empower yourself by giving yourself the Love that another could not.
